Birthday gifts for oldies and seniors

All of my life, I've had a problem knowing what to buy for my older friends and relatives.
They have everything for goddness sakes!

Well, now I'm getting older, and although I do have lots of things, I still enjoy receiving a gift, especially on my birthday.

Here's the thing though,  I now prefer the inexpensive, but well thought out gifts that the younger generation would probably snub.

For instance, what could be nicer than a pot of home made preserve, with a pretty gingham cover and a little hand written note from the sender?
If you really wanted to push the boat out, a nice jam spoon to go with it would be very acceptable.

These days, I do have trouble reaching for things, either from the floor or up in a cupboard.
I never was very tall anyway, so I was really pleased when I received one of those hand grabs that are readily available. It's made my life so much easier and is never far away.

Egg cups, they are always too darned small! The size of eggs in the convenience stores has grown ever bigger, yet the egg cups don't seem to have changed at all.
So a larger diameter egg cup would be my idea of breakfast heaven.

The winter's on it's way, what better way to spend the evenings than curled up with a good book or the tv cuddling a nice hot water bottle with a super soft fluffy cover. My idea of winter bliss.

My eyes are not what they were either, but I saw a really neat gadget online that clips under a book. It has a light and a magnifying glass that slides down over the pages. What a boon for tired eyes.

I may be getting on, but I still love my computer, and I saw a really funky looking mouse that changes colour all the time. I'm hoping someone will maybe get it for me sometime soon. A bright, good quality mouse mat would make the ensemble just the perfect gift.

When I'm cooking, I just love to add fresh Basil, Parsley, Thyme, Oregano and Mint.  What wouldn't I give to have some pretty pots of those in my kitchen. I just never think to get them for myself, but they would be really acceptable to me as a birthday or Christmas gift, and a really thoughtful touch would be a pretty little plastic tray to stand them on so I can water them without making a mess on my worktop.

My grip is definitely weaker than it was, but I spotted a battery operated can opener and a jar opener.
They would help me so much in my daily life.

And last, but not least, I really want a wind up torch. Just think, I would never have to but a torch battery again, just turn the handle and off it would go, amazing.

Now, I just have to hope that my nearest & dearest read this blog page!
